The last three months have been kind of busy for us. Working on the device, launching a new website or developing a mobile app for cyclists are some of the areas we’ve been focusing on. Will present them one at a time.
The device
First of all, I guess you’re curious about this part. We have finished a first working version of the prototype, based on a Raspberry Pi, at the end of December. It detects movement and has a fully functional GPS sensor and 3G Modem. We are now working on the second version prototype, which uses a microcontroller to control the various parts . We estimate it to be ready by the end of March.
The website
We felt that it needed an upgrade, so we brainstormed on ways we could improve it. After we reached a result, we started building it. The blog also has a new look. We hope you like it.
The team
If you visited the About us page, you probably noticed that we have a new team member – Maria Arbone. She is in charge of the PR&Marketing side of Waldo. If it’s your first time on our website, she’s probably “guilty” of bringing you here.
The mobile app
As you may know, among other features, Waldo’s mobile app will also be capable of detecting bike shops in the user’s proximity. Until the device is ready, we’ve decided to launch an app for Android that does exactly this: it displays bike shops near you. You’ll also be able to add a shop if it’s not present. We’ve already published a small preview of what the app is going to look like. It will be available free of charge at the beginning of March.
What’s next?
This spring will be full of events for us. After the launch of the mobile app, we will prepare for Salonul Bicicletei, a national bike exposition that will be held in Bucharest. You can visit us there between the 19th and 22nd of March. In May, we shall launch a crowdfunding campaign.
Stay tuned, great things are about to happen!
