For most of us, our bicycles are a huge part of our lives. We use them to get around in the city, to participate in competitions or to have an active holiday.
But there’s more to bikes than meets the eye. Have you ever thought of earning money just by riding your bike?
You’re not going to become a millionaire, but it might get you that extra income that you wished for. Or you can do it not for the money, but for the fun of it. Either way, here are three quick methods that will land you some extra bucks:
1. Deliver groceries
There are some apps, with Instacart being the most famous, that connect people who order groceries with those who deliver them. Everyone can be a shopper, including you. A simple backpack may be enough to carry the groceries, but we recommend some good panniers. The nice thing is that you can also do your own groceries while buying for others. Unfortunately, Instacart is only available in the US for now, but there are alternatives.
2. Rent your bike
You’re out of the city for a while. Or just for the weekend. Why leave your bike in a dark room when it could be out enjoying the sunshine and making some money for you? Apps like Spinlister or Spokefly allow you to rent your bike while you’re away. This may not be for everybody, as some may feel uncomfortable with the idea of a stranger riding their bike, but you could give it a try.
3. Become a courier
As you may have guessed, you can use an app for this – Postmates is a good example. But you can also get a part-time job at your local courier company. Most have flexible working hours, so it won’t interfere with your day job. Either way, apart from money, this option will also add the most miles to your day.
