We all know bike theft is a huge problem. And that a lot of bikes get stolen. But how many? 1, 2, 50 per day? And from which countries?
At Waldo, we’ve done some research on this issue. And today, we’re offering you the result of countless hours of “digging” on the Internet.
Here it is:
US – 1,3 million (estimate)
The Netherlands – 450.000 in 2012
France – 400.000 stolen every year
England and Wales – 376.000 between April 2013 – March 2014
Germany – 317.000 in 2013
Spain – 100.000 (estimate)
Denmark – 81.300 (estimate)
Scotland – 58.700 (estimate)
Switzerland – 40.000 in 2013
Finland – 16.000 in 2013
Romania – We didn’t find any data at country level, but you can check out this cool study.
As you can see, more than three million bikes were stolen from just ten countries. But don’t worry, that’s why we’re here.
